Upon completing the course, students will be prepared to work in ophthalmology, fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses. Ophthalmic Technicians follow prescriptions from optometrists or ophthalmologists, interpreting them, determining lens specifications, advising customers on eyewear options, educating on care, maintaining records, and handling administrative tasks. They may also establish their own eye care center with an MS (Ophth.) in accordance with state regulations.
